Bartimaeus Trilogy

The Temptation of St. Anthony by Martin Schöng...Image via WikipediaI’m certain that when the author, Jonathan Stroud, put his thoughts on paper regarding the concept of demons and humans, he never would have fathomed his books would turn out to become such a literary success. The protagonist, the demon Bartimaeus, shares his spotlight with a precocious young magician, Nathaniel. These two journey together in a London of magical proportions, where nothing is as it seems. Jonathan introduces one to the other in a way that can only be described as genius. Together, the snide and sarcastic demon and a power-hungry boy, they take on the corrupt magician-politicians ruling London, go through harrowing escapes and return wiser and more anxious of the future.

An amazing blend of original magical concepts, plot twists, laugh-out-loud lines and heart-stopping action, the Bartimaeus Trilogy is bound to impress even the most demanding reader. As books of this genre go, these are an exceptionally awesome collection of stories, steeped in history, rolling with culture, bridging supernatural barriers in ways never imagined before. In short, Jonathan Stroud has done the world a favor by giving us so much to be a part of, so much to appreciate, and much more to look forward to.
